Hue Brewery, Hue Beer (Vietnam)
Now owned by Carlsberg, this Vietnamese beer pours a yellow colour with thin white head. I'm not sure if this beer is brewed with rice, but there is a distinct rice-flour note on the nose, with a touch of toast and a yellow corn and slightly hoppy quality. On the palate a fairly straightforward lager, if a little watery in texture and flavour. There's a decent hop quality in the finish, and all in all I enjoyed this bottle slightly more than the previous one I'd tried and found rather green and lean. 5.0% ABV, 35cl, Onlyfinebeer, .
Saigon Beer Co., Export (Vietnam)
This Vietnamese beer is brewed with barley and rice, and pours a bright gold colour with a thick, creamy white head. The nose is very clean and lemony, with some biscuity richness melding with clean, fresh, citrus and bright, fruity aromas. On the palate it has a touch of sweetness at first, and then a kick of those more herbal, endive and chicory-like hop notes comes through, giving this a bit of bite. It finishes with some grapefruity bitterness in a fairly grown-up style. 4.9% ABV, 35.5cl, ?1.15, Beersofeurope, .
