Wadworth, Swordfish (England)
Described as "a unique blend of Wadworth 6X & Pussers Rum from the British Virgin Islands," this seasonal beer is now available for six months, throughout the winter, its popularity having extended its original two-month season. It pours an alluring amber/gold with a moderate white head, and little hints of toffee and a touch of raisin hint at the rum component, though not not as forcefully as you might expect. On the palate it is full, rich and creamy, with a nice freshness thanks to a lemony acidity and a touch of hop bitterness, and those rum flavours, darker, toffeed and with a hint of brown Demerara sugar are just discernable. Perhaps not quite as layered and complex as it should be, but a bit different and enjoyable. Also in Tesco and Ocado at around 2 per bottle. 5.0% ABV, 50cl, 23 per 12, brewery website.
